HISTORY

 

House Romani was founded in 1998 by 8 young adventurers caught by the gleaming bauble of the gypsy lifestyle, a life in the SCA that harkened back to the days that you couldn't pass by a camp without being hailed in to have a drink. The 8 founders of the Romani house took hold of this idea of fun, friendship and heavy drinking and ran with it. Over the last 7 years this oasis of fun has grown into a good healthy house now supporting 7 fighters and 2 marshals. The exact number of Romani is still a mystery as we are unable to count. In keeping with the Romani traditions are ethnic background is diverse, House Romani is a gypsy Kumpania ( a traveling family) comprised of many small groups that trace their lineage from all over the world, you will find everything from Scotts to Russian to pirate personas in our house. What makes us a family is our attitude, the philosophy of fun we have very few rules in our house Rule Number 1 is No Drama. All are welcome to stop by have a drink share in our entertainment.

The Roma way:
After traveling for many years in search of a fair and peaceful place the Romani tribe lead by Rom Dimitri set their feet down on the lush soil of the Barony of Calafia, shy at first and waiting to be run off the Romani house stayed small and secretive for a couple of years only revealing themselves to select few gaje who had earned their trust. As the years past and Dimitri found more of his lost family the Romani house grew and grew, dreading eventual exile or worse the Romani stayed quiet and away from the nobility of Caid until Genoa one of his brothers who was skilled with the sword and spear caught the attention of Capt General Valrik, who insisted that the young Romani fighters join with Calafia in the Iron Brigade. The Romani excelled. By the end of the first year in Iron Brigade we were asked to serve as queen's guard and had earned our Crossed Swords of Caid commendation for excellence on the battle field. So pleased with Genoa performance and the honor brought to House Romani was Dimitri that Genoa was Promoted to Captain of the Romani Fighters he elected Kazmir to be his lieutenant.
House Romani attends 4 wars a year both Potreo wars Great Western and Estrella war. The May Potreo war is our signature war, It's OUR WAR, were we try to have as much going on as possible, for three years now we have hosted some kind of Friday night fun to jump start the party. Our poker runs and Assassination game are both fun and we are always coming up with new games to share with the populace.
